Def Con 6 (Dj Hip-E and Red Void)

Def Con 6 is a breakbeat group that was founded by Red Void (John Sexton) and the late Dj Hip-E (Brandon Smith) that combines elements of acid, funk, electro, bass and breaks to explore dark science fiction themes over underground grooves. One of the more accomplished acts from Florida having 17 releases on 8 record labels, they have transcended the typical Florida Breaks scene that originally gave birth to their sound in the mid 1990s and are at home combining elements of old school breaks with UK style NuSkool breaks. Their records are always written, recorded, mixed and mastered with club DJs and the dance floor in mind. Def Con 6 has toured in cities such as Seattle, Portland, New Orleans, Atlanta and Miami where they showcased at WMC multiple times. Def Con 6 has opened for acts such as Magic Mike, DJ Keoki, DJ Icey and Rennie Pilgrem. Def Con 6 makes the tracks that "make the whole crowd Bounce Y'all".
